Reena provides advocacy and advisory services to private and public sector clients, with a focus on electricity markets and regulation. Prior to joining MT, Reena was a lawyer for a number of years with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). At the IESO, Reena applied her experience managing the market rule amendment process and representing interests in complex disputes and other matters relating to electricity markets and long-term natural gas and renewable energy supply contracts. Her many roles at the IESO included secondments with the Market Assessment and Compliance Division (MACD), Regulatory Affairs and as Senior Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer. At MT, Reena continues to apply her experience to advocate for a wide range of energy industry stakeholders including commercial and industrial loads, generators, transmitters, distributors, demand response aggregators, retailers and gas marketers. She also regularly provides strategic regulatory advice and direction to shareholders, acquirers, investors and developers of a variety of power generation assets including energy storage, gas, wind, solar, biomass and nuclear. Prior to joining the IESO, Reena was a commercial litigation lawyer for a number of years with two major national law firms and a litigation boutique, appearing before various provincial tribunals and all levels of court in Ontario. Reena has completed her Master in Laws in Energy and Infrastructure Law, and co-teaches The Law and Economics of Electricity Markets at Osgoode Hall Law School. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto Law School. Reena also serves as a roster adjudicator for the Electrical Safety Authority, the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario and the electricity transmission dispute resolution panel established under Annex 309 of the Canadian Free Trade Agreement. Reena is a Steering Committee Member of Women in Energy Canada (WIECAN), a member of the Electricity Subcommittee of the Energy Bar Association, and a former Board member with the Young Professionals in Energy.
