WiRE UK Breakfast Panel at Offshore and Floating Wind Europe 2023

A big thank you to all those who joined us yesterday morning at Offshore and Floating Wind Europe 2023 for a breakfast panel discussion on how to retain more women in leadership positions within the offshore wind industry!

Special thanks to our wonderful all-female panel (Emma Voss, Ana Isabel , Jennifer Gómez Molina, Ravneet Kaur) for your candid discussion and for sharing your experiences which can serve as inspiration for other women in the sector.

Some of the main takeaways from the panel include:

◾ Examples of key barriers to retaining more women include: a lack of female role models, stigma around starting a family, and judging men and women's success by different metrics.

◾ In general, having more female leadership has been show to increase productivity, improve decision-making and enhance innovation and there is no reason to think these benefits wouldn't appear in the offshore wind industry with more female leadership

◾ Effective personal development, flexible working, role models, and championing a supportive and inclusive workplace are four key actions that industry can take to retain more women in positions of leadership
