About WiRE

WiRE's mission is to advance the role and recognition of women working in the energy sector.  Inclusive of all renewable energy and clean technologies, our programming includes capacity-building field trips, networking meet-ups, an awards recognition program, student bursaries, speed mentoring and more!

WiRE supports Electricity Human Resources Canada's Leadership Accord for Gender Diversity in Canada's Electricity Sector and other programs that improve organizational diversity and inclusion. Why? Because organizational diversity improves the bottom line, ability to navigate change, adoption of innovation and new technologies, and many other benefits for the power sector.

Launched in 2013, WiRE forges partnerships with government agencies and a spectrum of renewable energy industry associations, other related networking groups for professional women from across the energy sector, and academic providers. WiRE appreciates the financial and industry support it receives from our sponsors, which helps to provide our programming at low or no cost.

WIRE started in Toronto, and has since launched chapters in Montreal, Ottawa, Southern and Northern Alberta, British Columbia, Hamilton / Mississauga, Southwestern Ontario, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland.
